Evaluation & Treatment
Speak Through Play, Inc. is committed in supporting monolingual and bilingual children with a wide range of speech and language challenges. We offer parent/ caregiver classes, evaluations, diagnosis and therapy that address speech, language and social communication. Please read below to learn more. Services are available for children approximately 12 months and older, and therapy is always individualized to meet your child’s unique needs.
Pediatric Myofunctional Therapy
Myofunctional therapy addresses oral‑muscle patterns that can impact speech, breathing, chewing, swallowing, and overall oral posture. Because this work often involves volitional control and active participation, it’s most appropriate for children around age 4 and older, when they are developmentally ready to understand and follow therapeutic exercises. Younger children may benefit from early oral motor support and parent-guided strategies as needed.
This may include support for:
-
Open‑mouth posture
-
Tongue thrust or low tongue resting posture
-
Mouth breathing
-
Swallowing patterns
-
Oral motor coordination related to speech
Therapy is collaborative and may include coordination with other professionals when appropriate.
